America: Now + Here is an unprecedented cultural experience for our nation, “a moveable feast” of work by contemporary American visual artists, poets, playwrights, musicians and filmmakers that will be presented in some of the largest cities, as well as smallest hamlets, in the U.S.  Inspired by the juxtaposition of emotions that Americans everywhere are experiencing—celebratory yet cynical, privileged yet vulnerable, patriotic yet conflicted—artist Eric Fischl set out to create an exhibition that would give voice to these feelings and encourage others to speak up about their own sense of what it means to be American at this very charged moment. An exhibition that is, in a way, its own art project, America: Now + Here is the result of that ambitious undertaking.
